Meet Gaston van Delft, Design intern
Tell us a little about you…
My name is Gaston van Delft, 19, I’m a graphic and product design student SINT LUCAS Boxtel. I’m currently doing a graphic design internship REGGS.
Design was always a logical choice for me, as long as I can remember I’ve been a maker and interested in how people interact with design. I like to fix, improve and make things and with design I can constantly puzzle towards something better for people to interact with.
Describe your workplace
My workplace at REGGS is the typical designer desk; it consist of my Mac and pile of prints, sketches and notes.
What do you get out of your bed for?
That’s simple, if I have nothing planned I don’t. But usually I plan things with people so that I don’t end up staying in bed all day.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My inspiration comes from everywhere but I get the best ideas when I’m walking alone with loud music on.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to go out with my group of friends whenever possible or I’ll catch myself watching everything that Youtube recommends to me.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud that I take every opportunity to combine design and intercultural experiences. My last internship in Cape Town South-Africa was a real adventure. And even here, at REGGS, we house so many different nationalities so everyday I pick up a new language.
Which customer do you hope to work for?
Currently I also have a weekend-job as a stylist at Scotch&Soda and I really like the concepting behind every collection they make. Most people probably don’t know this but for every collection they make, they also create a complete new story or world as inspiration for their styles. I would love to work on something like that, making my own worlds and visuals so that other people can create designs based on that world.
Tell us something we probably don’t know about you
If I get confronted with a spice or non-spicy option I have to go with the spicy option to prove to myself I can do it. I’m not sure if I actually like spicy food better but I like to challenge myself.
